Muscle is a tissue that is contracted for force production that then creates motion.  Damage caused to muscle often results in them becoming strained or “pulled” from the involvement of muscle fibres being torn.  This level of strain can range from the minor to the major.

The spectrum of expertise that a Member of The Society of Sports Therapists must possess is built within five key areas of competency related to injury and illness in the sport and exercise environment. These are:
